NAACP hosts Wellness Fair in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is keeping wellness front and center in Wilkes-Barre.

The civil rights organization hosted an open walk-up clinic and wellness fair on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Visitors were able to get a medical consultation and advice from doctors, nurses, counselors, and other health professionals from almost 50 organizations and institutions.

“We are looking to do this every year. There are so many people without insurance, there are so many people without employment. There are so many people who are suffering. If we can continue to come together as a community and be charitable and give these free services when we can, then we can bring a little bit of something special to the area,” said Daryl Lewis, NAACP Wellness Fair Director.

If you missed Thursday’s events, Lewis says they are working on launching another wellness fair in Hazleton soon.
