Mount Bohemia, MI Teases Reopening After "A Lot" Of Recent Snowfall

Winter '23/'24 will be one to forget for Mount Bohemia, MI. The Midwest was hit hard by El Niño's mild temperatures, and Bohemia, which averages nearly 300 inches of snow each season, only recorded 110 inches.

The season ended weeks ago, but multiple storms have the ski area hinting at a possible reopening this weekend, March 30-31. Check out the photos of fresh snow at Mount Bohemia's base:

It doesn't appear that Mount Bohemia is actively updating their snow reports, understandable since the resort has been closed for weeks, but the trusty Keweenaw County snowfall chart should provide some clarity.

According to their records, Keweenaw County has seen at least 19 inches of new snow since March 24th, 2024, and is reporting a snow depth base of 14 inches.

The location of their snow observations isn't disclosed, but we can assume it differs, even if just slightly, from the snow that fell on Mount Bohemia.

With that said, any skiers hoping for a weekend re-opening should temper their expectations. Mount Bohemia lay nearly bare, besides a few shaded spots, just last week.

A couple of feet of snow might be enough for Bohemia to welcome skiers back, but expect the snowpack to be thin. Rock skis and boards will be the way to go.

Mount Bohemia hasn't officially committed to reopening this weekend, but if I know one thing about Lonnie Glieberman (owner and operator of Bohemia), he will get that hill open for skiing, if it's possible.
