Motherly Boerboel Dog Takes in Newborn Rescue Kitten Found in Yard Without a Second Thought
As a child, I used to be terrified of dogs. Seeing even the tiniest Chihuahuas would leave me in tears, but I would have a full-blown panic attack when I saw a giant breed dog. My limited canine experience would have never told me that some of the largest, 'scariest-looking' dogs are actually the most sweet and gentle creatures.
It's true! If you need proof, look no further than Storm the Boerboel, who recently adopted a newborn kitten with no hesitation whatsoever. This gentle giant took on a motherly role as naturally as can be, and now she's impressed millions of TikTok viewers with her heart full of love, too. Needless to say, this is one lucky kitten!
The precious baby was found in the yard of Storm's home on May 12, and they've already become a member of the family thanks to the dog's love and acceptance. This may be a fairy tale ending, but it's only the beginning of this adorable relationship.
Aww! This is beyond precious! The tiny newborn kitten seems a bit confused about this odd-looking mama cat who's giving them a bath, but they're accepting the love with minimal resistance. Besides, after lying in the yard for who knows how long, I'm sure that warm grooming feels so good!

"Sorry I'm not sorry. I'm your mother now," commented @mamaroach. That's exactly what Storm would be saying! Her motherly instincts took over immediately, even if she left the precious baby soaking wet from all that grooming. At least by now, that rescue kitten must smell like her. That makes this kitten officially her baby!
Storm is a Boerboel dog, a South African mastiff breed bred to guard and alert. These dogs protect their homes and farms, though as this devoted dog proves, they'll happily protect and care for their loved ones, too. Not all Boerboels will be as motherly and calm as Storm, but she definitely is a gentle giant.
What to Do With an Orphaned Kitten
After this stray kitten was found in the yard, the dog's owner immediately brought the baby inside. At that point, Storm took over! When she wasn't cleaning and grooming the tabby kitten, the two were cuddled up together on the bed. However, not everyone has a helper for a rescued orphaned kitten. If immediate vet care isn't necessary, keeping a kitten warm, safe, and fed will be your top priority.
Banshee knows how it's done! This sweet stray kitten seemed so relieved to be fed and warm, and I can't imagine how well they slept after finally feeling safe. While there's no one straightforward path to caring for orphaned kittens, Storm sure is setting a great example!
