More than 8,000 pounds of frozen meat pizza have been recalled for containing an undeclared allergen. Select boxes of 802 VT Frozen Meat Crispy Wood-Fired Crust Hand Made Pizza, produced in Vermont, have been recalled because the product contains soy, and the label does not include the ingredient.

A routine inspection by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) revealed that the meat pizza, produced since April 2023, contains soy but does not have the proper allergen warning on the box. The recall impacts frozen pizzas sold in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

FSIS does not yet have a full list of retailers where the recalled pizza was sold. But it says it’s working to ensure the pizzas are removed from shelves and will update the recall alert with a full list of distributors soon.

802 VT Frozen Meat Pizzas Recalled

The recall is only for 802 VT Frozen "MEAT!!!" varieties that bear the establishment number "EST. 46308" in the USDA mark of inspection. No other 802 VT Frozen pizzas are impacted.

You can confirm if you have the recalled frozen pizza by looking for the establishment number and a best-by date of April 25, 2024, through April 25, 2025. The USDA also has label images on its site.

If you or someone in your household has a soy allergy, FSIS urges you not to consume the pizza. While no adverse reactions have been confirmed from eating the recalled pizza, those with soy allergies could experience serious or life-threatening allergic reactions. To be safe, you should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

However, you can still consume the meat pizza if you don't have a soy allergy or sensitivity. The product has not been recalled for any reason that makes it inherently unsafe. FSIS is erring on the side of caution by warning those with soy allergies to return the pizzas.
