Monster Hunter Zoids Revealed In Full And You Can Order One Now

Monster Hunter Zoids crossover teaser

Earlier this week we reported that Monster Hunter was coming to Zoids, with a crossover so perfect it made us deeply fear for our wallets. Now, Tomy – the company that makes Zoids – has revealed the full figures, including pictures from just about any angle you’d want, prices, and a release date.

As previously reported, there are two Monster Hunter Zoids being released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Zoids and the 20th anniversary of Monster Hunter — it’s nice that they lined up so well. The two monsters getting the glorious conversion to our favorite action figures are the series’ most iconic monster, the Rathalos, and Monster Hunter Rise’s fearsome Magnamalo.

They’ve both made a very nice conversion to Zoids, as you can see in the pictures below. The Magnamalo one is a little bit more on the boring side, as we’ve seen plenty of custom Ligers in the Zoids franchise in the past, but the Rathalos is an absolute banger. It’s based on the Sonic Bird Zoid, and it’s very slick.

There’s even a little bit of story behind the crossover — in the far future, Monster Hunter monsters have run amok after a portal opened up and monsters flooded through, and humans have had to find a way to fight back using Zoids. A few Felynes also stumbled through, and told the humans that there are ways to fight the monsters, as hunters do in their world.

Without hunters, though, the humans instead studied the monsters to come up with custom Zoids that were both modeled after the monsters and were very good at taking them down. It’s pretty cool! I wish this were turned into a game of some kind, but model kits will have to do.

The Rathalos and Magnamalo Zoids will both be released on July 20, 2024, with preorders open in Japan from today. They’ll cost 6,600 Japanese yen each, or about $45 USD, which is pretty reasonable all things considered.

Unfortunately, no Western release has been announced for them yet – not surprising, given Zoids rarely make it outside of Japan officially – but they are available to order from HobbyLink Japan, which is definitely a good way to go about it.
