‘Monster Bear’ Living in Alaska Doesn’t Even Look Real

It's that time of the year when all bears start to bulk up for the winter and hibernation, and this bear that wildlife photographer @Brad Josephs captured on film at the end of September 2023 is definitely doing just that!

Standing in the rain and looking around, the bear is absolutely huge, and terrifying looking. Check out the size of his claws! He then heads to the river to use those claws to catch some lunch. It's pretty incredible to see!

@Brad estimates that the bear probably weighs about a thousand pounds. That's almost a ton of pure 'monster' that they were watching. He must fish all day to get enough to keep himself full! They seemed so calm about it, but I would've been freaking out!

There was close to 3 thousand comments left about the video. One commenter pointed out, "That’s the most bear looking bear I’ve ever seen". When I think big, scary bear, that's definitely what it looks like in my head! @Racholantern added, "Pretty sure that’s the mom bear from Brave." Another commenter said, "Can't believe there's no Kodiak bear comments", and Brad replied back, "We are 30 miles from the Kodiak archipelago, on the Alaska Peninsula. Basically, same bears, yes a different subspecies, but very similar in every way". I couldn't help but laugh at @M's comment, "That one is distinctly not friend shaped".

@Cella made me laugh with, "That bear has been thru some THINGS". We just finished up Alaska's Fat Bear Week, and I think this bear definitely would've won the competition!
