New Milwaukee restaurant in Tavolino MKE location set to open Wednesday

L'incontro, the restaurant that will replace Tavolino MKE at 2315 N. Murray Ave., is set to open Wednesday.

Its menu focuses on Italian cuisine with a global influence, co-owner and head chef Juneil Cabreza said in an interview in January. It'll include items like sisig pizza, sweet potato ricotta dumplings, lamb shank, spinach girella, whole fish cake, lemon basil rice and roasted carrots.

Cabreza worked at Tavolino before the restaurant abruptly closed in October, only a few months after re-opening and recovering from fire damage.

The closure left more than two-dozen frustrated employees without their final paychecks.

L'incontro will bring a sense of familiarity to the neighborhood while also introducing new flavors.

Cabreza, who took a job in food and equipment sales after leaving Tavolino, will bring an Asian touch to his dishes as part of his global influence.

Izzy Hops Swig & Nosh manager Paul Piotrowski and Cabreza will share ownership. Piotrowski will continue his role at Izzy Hops.
