Milwaukee Art Museum free admission days are part of a new community celebration program

Admission to the Milwaukee Art Museum will be free on both April 28 and June 6 as part of a new program called Free Day + Celebration — quarterly events at the art museum organized around a specific person or theme which include free admission, programs and activities.

The first Free Day + Celebration was Feb. 18, which was held in honor of Milwaukee civil rights activist Vel Phillips.

The April 28 event is in honor of what would have been the 100th birthday of Alfred Bader. According to a press release from the art museum, Bader was the founder of Aldrich Chemical Company in Milwaukee as well as a significant art donor to the museum. Bader and his wife, Isabel, also advised the museum as they developed their European art program.
