It’s about time that someone made a selfie app that actually beautifies you — and we’re not surprised that this someone is Microsoft. The new (and free!) iOS app, Microsoft Selfie, is very straightforward: Take your selfie (or select a selfie — we know you already have some in your library) and the app will automatically optimize it for beauty. If you’re skeptical of the results, there is a “Compare” button on the bottom right-hand screen that allows you to compare the before-and-after results. After this automatic beautification process (if only real life beauty routines were as easy…), you can select a filter that has been suggested to you based on skin tone, lighting, and age. No word on whether the selfie app also corrects neck wrinkles, bald spots, and hormonal blemishes.

According to the app, the features include “intelligent enhancement,” “noise reduction,” “autoexposure,” and even “color theme” — all determined by algorithms designed to make your selfie as automatically photogenic as possible. In May 2015, Microsoft launched a new Face detection API that guessed your age based on a singular image. The internet went wild for the #HowOldRobot, which was consistently entertaining and inconsistently accurate. Who needs Photoshop when you have algorithms?
