Is Microfeminism the Ultimate Girls-Girl Move?

Ah, feminism – one word that somehow gets everyone’s panties in a bunch. For those already clutching their pearls at the thought of feminism, microfeminism just entered the TikTok trends chat.

Recently popularized by Jen Manly, microfeminism is the feminist version of “small acts of kindness.” For example, holding the door for someone or grabbing your classmate a cup of coffee on your way to lecture. In regards to girlhood, it refers to actioning change through "small, highly intentional daily gestures," as Glamour wrote.

In the workplace, it can look like hyping up the contributions of your femme counterparts or as one TikTok creator shared, adding the female assistant’s name to the email before the name of the CEO as they’re the ones screening emails anyways. As women on TikTok are sharing, these acts are not only, but encourage bring girl code into the workplace. The goal is that long term, these acts of microfeminism foster a society that actually cares about women and puts that care into action.
