The past month has been host to plenty of mega sales from retailers like Dick's Sporting Goods, REI, and even Cole Haan. But after a smashingly successful winter sale in February, Merrell is back at it in an even bigger way with over 300 new markdowns on rarely-discounted styles during what the brand is calling "Merrell May." The sale runs from now through May 28 with deals on all the gear needed for an adventurous summer.

Merrell May features some of the brand's bestselling hiking boots, trail running shoes, sandals, and sneakers on sale—including ones that virtually never see a discount. Almost the entire Moab collection of hiking footwear is on sale, with tons of colors to pick from, as is the Nova trail running collection, which are some of the brand's most highly-prized. Merrell sandals are also ripe for the picking, with the Hydro collection at the front of the pack. After browsing through all the Merrell shoes on sale, we found these four that are a must-grab for summer fun.

The Merrell Moab hiking boots are regarded as some of the best around thanks to their multi-climate designs, grippy soles, and underfoot comfort. The Moab 3 is the most recent iteration of the series and boasts a toothy 5mm Vibram lug outsole with tons of internal cushion and a waterproof membrane that put the boot on the map. It can handle anything from loose gravel to muddy earth and everything in between without skipping a beat on traction. Find it on sale in six colors and in sizes ranging from 7 to 15 with wides available.

What Shoppers Are Saying: "Used in the Antelope Canyons and all over Zion. One day (per my watch) was 10 hours long, 13 miles, 84 flights climbed and 30,000 steps. The boots were great. I purposely tried them out in the Virgin River and the waterproofing worked. My first pair of mid boots, and I was very pleased with the stability. I worried about the weight but they were great. I originally wanted the Hoka mid boot but balked at the price and found these Merrells to have a great price value relationship."

With a tough-as-nails Vibram outsole and a rock plate for extra protection, these breathable trail runners will have you galloping through the woods with as much confidence as the wolves that live in it. Breathable, cushioned, and ergonomic, it's the shoe you'll want to have with you when trails look daunting. It's available in sizes 7 through 15 with the option for wides and comes in five colors.

What Shoppers Are Saying: "I've had the Nova 3s for about one week now. The shoes were comfortable and ready to go out of the box. Size and width were both as expected. In the past seven days, I have averaged 10-12 miles per day on the shoes over a combination of pavement, crushed gravel, and trails with roots and rocks. The Novas have handled everything just great!"

Merrell Hydro Moc in Black/Mosstone, $42 (was $60) at Merrell

Merrell's Hydro Moc is the brand's answer to Crocs, and one that offers much more support. The key difference is the attached heel, which helps to better secure the foot mid-stride and rely less upon the arch to keep the shoe on. Some say the heel tab can cause blisters, but many get around this by paring it down to the perfect height. They're the shoes you're going to reach for every week this summer, whether heading to the beach, working in the garden, or just getting messy with the kids. Find it in 16 fun colors from sizes 7 to 15.

What Shoppers Are Saying: "We got these shoes for a Philippines trip. Used it during my swim with the whale sharks, even used it during river trekking. Loving mine so much!"

Merrell Embark Sneaker Moc in Black/White, $70 (was $100) at Merrell

If you're still riding the Merrell Jungle Moc train in 2024, it might be time to switch to something a little cooler-looking and a lot more breathable in the Embark Sneaker. This slip-on shoe features the same Vibram sole as the brand's rugged hiking footwear but uses a soft, flexible knit upper to keep feet well-ventilated while the airy, bouncy foam midsole provides long-lasting comfort and shock absorption. It's a popular style that's already starting to sell out just ahead of summer weather. It comes in sizes 7 to 15 and in four colors.

What Shoppers Are Saying: "I love my plain black Jungle Mocs and have been wearing them for a decade, but their featureless black style looks a bit odd when I'm on my bike in shorts! The Embark Sneaker Moc looks more like an athletic shoe and fits very comfortably. The lack of laces is a big plus for cycling, as sometimes shoelaces can get caught up in gears and pedals, leading to 'unplanned dismounts' which are not a problem with these! They are also very lightweight."
