Meet the couples that are repping young love on the streets of London
Last year, we published a story featuring real-life couples on the streets of New York. And you all loved it so much that we decided to turn it into a global series! Our most recent destination? London!
We took to the streets and scouted 11 clearly-obsessed-with-each-other couples to photograph for our Spring 2024 issue and asked them about how they met, how long they’ve been together, and exactly what makes their relationship work. Our takeaway after chatting with these lovers across the pond? That we've got further proof that true love does, in fact, exist.

Megan, 31, writer, creator, and presenter; Char, 34, director of people
Years together: 1.5
Char: We met at Birmingham Pride. The first thing she said to me was, “Oh my god, you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
Megan: It was the truth! It just spilled out of my mouth.
Char: She’s got lyrics.
Megan: It wasn’t even a line. It was just in my head—it popped up and came out.
Angus, 30, sales director; Bliss, 26, model
Years together: 5
Bliss: We’re off to the cinema to see Saltburn.
Angus: Whereas I pretend to be a film buff, Bliss actually gets it. She’s really good at picking up on what’s going on straight away if something’s slightly complex, while I’m often like, “What’s the dynamic here?” There’s another film that you really want to see.
Bliss: How to Have Sex. That one’s next.
Damien, 34, piercer; Jasper, 36, tattoo parlor manager
Years together: 4
Jasper: I just moved here.
Damien: It’s really enjoyable to see each other every day.
Jasper: I used to live in New York City. Having a five-hour time difference was the worst thing ever.
Damien: We spent most of our time on FaceTime.
Alexander, 28, account manager; Jaime, 28, digital design editor
Years together: 9
Jaime: For our first date, I bought us tickets to see a dance troupe.
Alexander: And in my mind, I was like, “Yes! A date!”
Jaime: The show was about STIs; there was a lot of nudity. Then we went to a bar that is not height-friendly.
Alexander: So at this point, I’ve seen dicks everywhere. Then we go into a cave that I don’t fit in.
Jaime: It was very on my terms, that date.
Joey, 28, artist; Matt, 28, musician
Years together: 3
Joey: We like doing parallel play, where we’re next to each other…
Matt: …but we’re not doing the same thing.
Joey: I’ll be working on my art, and Matt will be playing his guitar, and every now and then, we’ll be like, “Does this work?” I trust his opinion.
Matt: I know something’s good when Joey’s like, “Oh, that was nice,” from the other side of the room.
Olivia, 20, model and student; Tom, 21, fashion student
Years together: 1.5
Olivia: A mutual friend thought we’d like each other.
Tom: It was a setup that worked very well.
Olivia: He slid into the DMs—very Gen Z.
Tom: I had to. There was no choice about it, really. And now I shoot all of my clothes on her. The way they fit her is just perfect.
Olivia: Wearing something that the person you love has made is really special.
Viral, 35, business analyst; Nikita, 35, fashion designer and creative director
Years together: 11
Viral: We met at a birthday party.
Nikita: I was friend-zoning him but then gave him my number and said, “I’ll go on a date with you if you can tell me why I have a connection with the devil.”
Viral: The last three digits of her phone number are 666.
Saskia, 20, salon assistant; Toby, 19, construction worker
Months together: 10
Saskia: We’re going away to Latvia for our anniversary.
Toby: A bit of husky sledding, the shooting range, traditional foods, shopping at the market.
Saskia: All of the cute stuff.
Freya, 30; Scarlett, 28, podcast hosts
Years together: 5
Freya: We were together for four years before we even came up with the idea for the Lesbian Supper Club podcast.
Scarlett: Although I do think it would have been very lesbian of us to have thought of it and then been like, “Let’s get together for the podcast.” Just for the clout.
Katie, 24, master’s student; Max, 30, treasury analyst
Months together: 6
Max: She is very chill and responsible and has great taste in music and food.
Katie: He has style and is really smart.
Max: We’re planning to move in together.
Katie: I love him.
Adam, 27, artist; Lucinda, 27, stylist
Years together: 5
Adam: We met at university—Belfast School of Art.
Lucinda: I would go up to his studio all the time and be like, “Oh my gosh, I didn’t know you were here,” but I knew exactly where he’d be. Our lives went separate ways for three years before we reconnected. I told him to stop by a vintage shop I was working at. The next day, he came in and spent three hours there.
Adam: I felt like I had to buy something, so I bought a jacket.
Lucinda: And he still has it!
