Mason and Michael Ho Trading Waves at Ehukai Beach Park

When it comes to surfing families, there aren’t too many like the Ho family. Michael, Derek, Mason, and Coco all sit in the history books of wave riding. Mason, Michael, and Coco often surf together, and although they’re all world-class surfers, they all have very distinct ways of making their way down a wave.

The North Shore is their playground. The Seven Mile Miracle where teeth were cut. Pipeline, V-Land, Rockies, Waimea were the swing sets and slides of Coco and Mason’s youth. Recently, Mason met up with Michael at Ehukai Beach Park, home to waves such as Pipeline.

As they’re wont to do, both Michael Ho and Mason surf exactly the way they want to surf. Neither of them surfs like anyone but themselves, although many attempt to surf like they do. Their comfort level on waves — especially when it comes to Mason — is crystal clear. Mason surfs the way most people mind surf. Anything he dreams of doing, he can make a reality.

One would imagine it’s tough to beat a session in fantastic waves with the family, and it’s a sure bet that there’s nothing Michael Ho loves more than surfing with his kids.
