Skate nerds rejoice! The one and only Mark Gonzales recently sat down with his old pal, Tony Hawk in NYC for a super special episode of the Hawk Vs. Wolf podcast and shared so many incredible stories—this episode seriously rules.

From touring together early on in their careers, to so many stories about demos, sessions, naming tricks, injuries, art, the moon landing (but maybe not the one you're thinking of) and honestly so much more, the fact that these two are sitting in a room together telling these stories is amazing, to say the least. Dive in:

Say what you want, but I wish this episode was at least, like... two hours long! How often do we get to witness two skateboarders with this much influence simply laughing with each other, reminiscing, and taking us back to the (downright epic) days of yesteryear in such a natural way? The nostalgia is real. This is the best fly-on-the-wall moment I've had in a while.

We all know Gonz is sort of like a unicorn, you know? Or like... Bigfoot or something. You might spot him randomly pushing around in the streets of New York City. Maybe he'll pop in or out of Supreme—who knows! But he's one of the most elusive skateboarders ever, so to have him pinned down to a chair for a full conversation like this is such a treat.

Both of these dudes have lived some pretty spectacular lives. Some of these stories are absolutely nuts! It's just fun to think about them being kids, traveling the world, meeting artists and musicians, running amok with random credit cards... what!? So rad. And all the while, they were molding themselves into the legends they are today.

When they start talking about wheelbase and switching setups between street and vert, drilling truck holes back to assist with tricks, bouncing tricks off each other... so much innovation—it's all so fascinating—and they were just some kids figuring this incredible thing we call skateboarding out. Absolute pioneers.

But you know what? You don't need me to tell you these things. Carve out the time and dig into this episode. Leave it on at work. Go sit in some traffic. However you listen to your podcasts—do it. Great episode! I didn't think I could admire either of these two any more than I already did... but here we are.
