Marc Jacobs Created a Wardrobe for Your Eyelashes

Marc Jacobs is an unequivocal fashion leader, but now he’s expanding his already impressive beauty line with a wardrobe of mascaras inspired by fabrics like velvet, feathers, and gold lame. After testing all three (solo and all at once), I’m on board.

The first magic wand is the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($26), which mimics the look of full, fake lashes. I was instantly reminded of the clumpy look backstage at the spring Marc Jacobs runway show, where makeup artist Francois Nars applied layer after layer of mascara for a morning-after-hitting-the-club look. The formula was actually inspired by one of the designer’s oldest beauty memories when he watch his mother shave fibers off of a black velvet ribbon and apply them to her eyelashes to amp them up. (Clearly Jacobs comes from a line of beauty geniuses.) The result is go-big-or-go-home volume targeting the middle of your lashes for ultimate fullness.

Next up is the Feather Noir Ultra-Skinny Lash-Discovering Mascara ($24). The ultra-slim wand was created to target lower lashes and all those hard-to-reach inner and outer lashes. I’m allergy prone and my eyes tear up a lot in the cold weather, so I typically skip my lower lashes when applying mascara — but not anymore! This wand defines my lower lashes, making them look soft and fluffy without smudging.

The last mascara tube is definitely the most fun of trio. Lamé Noir Ultra-Glittering Mascara ($26). It’s inspired by gold lame, but you definitely don’t need to rock the metallic fabric to pull off this sparkling mascara topcoat. Every blink of your lashes will reveal a flash of glimmering gold — the perfect, unexpected touch to an evening beauty look.
