Man’s Sweet Cuddle Session With Tiny Donkey Is Giving People ‘Baby Fever'

If you're looking for something to brighten your day, Julia Dimaggio shared an adorable video on her Instagram account on Saturday, May 4th that will make you smile...and might even leave you wanting a baby donkey! Julia's homesteading family shares their adventures and day-to-day life on a farm with seven kids and in this video, they introduce us to their new baby donkey.

In the video we see Mr. Dimaggio holding the tiny donkey like a baby. He's cuddling and rocking the sweet baby, and it looks like both of them (and all of us!) are enjoying the precious moment!

I can't even with how cute this is! Julia even says, "I apologize in advance for influencing you to run and get a donkey." They also share more of the donkey getting snuggles from the family in this video and I've never wanted to hug a donkey more! Commenters also swooned over the adorable baby. @mericandavid shared, "Thinking about how so many animals will never experience being held like this and I’m crying." @john_cornella_schmitt added, "Okay now I have donkey fever.... Was that a thing before or did you just now make it a thing??" My favorite comment came from the commenter who pointed out, "This is dangerous. After you cuddle them, they won't know how to donkey anymore. Then they will go on adventures with an ogre and marry a dragon."

Facts About Donkeys

Many people in the comment section mentioned that donkeys make great pets. They're very intelligent, and easy to train (even know they're known to be stubborn). They are very gentle and affectionate and form strong bonds with their humans.

Because they are such social animals, they don't like to live by themselves. They like being around other donkeys, horses, and mules. If they are alone, they can get depressed, sad, and lonely. They require a lot of space and daily exercise, and it's important to have enrichment activities for them like big bouncy balls, slow feeders, and even equine puzzles. It's pretty fun to watch them run and play!

Commenter @psalmpollock shared, "I recently learned that donkeys are protectors, like dogs! They will charge predators like mountain lions and coyotes." I had no idea! This article at Active Dog Sports explains, "Donkeys are one of the best livestock guardians for smaller livestock. They are classified as livestock guardian animals and are excellent protectors of livestock and farm animals. They are especially effective at guarding against canines such as wolves and coyotes as they are natural enemies."

Here's a fact that I did know, donkeys are pretty noisy animals. They bray like this little donkey who just found his voice and also make other noises like growls, grunts, squeals, and snorts. They make these sounds often and loudly, especially when they're hungry!

I think that a donkey sounds like a great addition to any farm! There are always pros and cons to all pets so make sure to do your own research to see if a donkey would be a good one for your family.
