Donkey’s Sweet Reaction to Getting a New Ball Is a Breath of Fresh Air

Just like kids, animals love getting new toys. They get just as excited as kids do, and it's just as fun to watch them play with toys! Pubity shared a video at the beginning of January 2024 of a donkey who got a new ball, and not only can you see his excitement, but you can also hear it too!

The video starts with mom throwing a new blue ball out into the donkey's pen. In the distance, you can see what appears to be the same kind of ball, only red and flat. In just about 10 seconds, he pops the ball but you can still see the joy he has playing with it. What he does next it too cute!

Well that ball didn't last long! I love how he stacked the blue ball with the red ball so that he could play with them both! His reaction is so pure and so perfect. @Pubity's caption reads, "I'd get Donkey a new ball everyday if I could see this epic reaction"!  I would do the same. He was having so much fun with both now-flat balls that it didn't even bother him that neither of them bounced anymore. And I've never seen a donkey stand on its hind legs like that, but it was adorable, so was his tail wagging like crazy, too! Commenters loved it, too. @Ellie Moffitt and many others said, "That is the happiest donkey I have ever seen. Thank you for making him so happy." and @sawyer2018 added, "Love him! He's like an overgrown puppy!" @Lisa and several others recommended, "Try a herding ball, they’re great and don’t pop".

Do Donkeys Make Good Pets?

I don't know much about donkeys, but I always thought of them as kind of chill animals that don't do much other than make a lot of noise. I was wrong! Turns out, donkeys do make pretty good pets. They are easy to care for and known to be pretty stubborn, but once they get comfortable with you, they can be very loving, too. They are relatively inexpensive to care for compared to many other farm animals, (and even the pets in your home), have a sweet and gentle disposition, and as this donkey shows us, can be playful, too!

The only thing that I found when did a bit of research is that donkeys do require supervision around children...much like many other animals do. In the research I did, it didn't seem to be a major issue and didn't come up often, but it's worth mentioning.

After watching this donkey play, it seems like if you have a farm and are looking for a new animal to add to your farm family, a donkey might be worth considering!
