There was a lot of beauty coming out of Paris this week with the fall Haute Couture shows but some of our favorite beauty looks weren’t on the runway — they were on Lupita Nyong’o. Behind the star’s striking looks was makeup artist Nick Barose, who created everything from her sparkling eyes at Dior to her glam red lip at the Lancôme 80th Anniversary Party. Here, Barose is breaking down all of Nyong’o’s best Paris looks. Take notes, it’s time to step up your beauty game.

Sparkling Eyes at the Dior Haute Couture Fall 2015 Show
“The bold red Dior dress called for dramatic makeup that isn’t competing in the color department,” says Barose of the black, navy and silver tone eye look he created. “They add drama but are not too colorful, so it won’t compete with the dress.” To get the look, Barose layered black eyeshadow (try the Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Gris Fumee, $50) and liner with a silver shadow. He then accented the look with fine silver glitter using Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Glam Rock ($20).

1940s Glamour at the Lancôme 80th Anniversary Party
“For the Lancôme 80th Anniversary Party, we went full on glam,” says Barose. “A classic 1940s movie star effect with winged out liner and bold, glamorous red lips.” The look was the perfect compliment to her sequin Prada gown. To get that defined eye, Barose suggests Lancôme Artliner in Black Diamond ($31). And those red lips? He used Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Saffron Silk ($31).

Emerald Eyes at the Maison Margiela Couture Fall 2015 Show
With Nyong’o’s all black look at the Margiela show, Barose decided to go with just a hint of color on the eyes. “Lining lower lashes with a fun color pencil is a great way to add interest to the face,” he says. If you want the same emerald shade as the star, use Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil in Pacifique.
