Looking for your photos for Laurel Highlands Photo Friends contest to be held in May

SOMERSET ― The 2024 Laurel Highlands Photo Friends contest and exhibit will be held May 9-30.

Entries will be accepted from 2 to 4 p.m. May 4, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 6, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 7, at the Philip Dressler Center for the Arts, 214 S. Harrison Ave., Somerset.

There will be eight categories: Scenic, Floral, Fauna & Birds, People, General, Digital Art & Alternative Processes, Black & White, and Nighttime. Photographers may enter a maximum of two photos per category. All entries must be an 11"x14" print or a smaller size matted to 11"x14" and framed with a horizontal wire on the back for hanging. Images consisting exclusively of Al fully-generated content using text prompts are prohibited.

Prizes and ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category.

An awards reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. May 10.

There will be a separate competition for the Somerset County Town Planner. A total of four seasonally relevant photos may be entered per person; one for each season (Spring Summer, Fall and Winter). Photos for this competition must be 8"x10" horizontally oriented prints matted to 11"x14" and framed with a horizontal wire on the back for hanging.
