Livingston County farmers markets 2024: Opening dates and what to know

LIVINGSTON COUNTY — There'll be no shortage of farmers markets in Livingston County this spring.

A new market will debut in Pinckney, a once-beloved market will return to Green Oak Township, and regular markets will come back in Brighton, Howell and Hartland Township.

Three begin this weekend, with two more next week.

"We’re going to have a really great season," Brighton Farmers Market Manager Monee Phipps told The Daily.

Phipps said early spring will bring flowers, trees and houseplants, along with some types of produce, poultry, fish, sausages, and other products.

"Early vegetables will probably be some spring lettuces," she said. "I talked to a farmer, and he thinks he's going to have asparagus in time."

She said shoppers will also find a variety of baked goods and handmade products.

Here's where to find markets in Livingston County:

Livingston Farmers Market

This new farmers market is a collaboration between close friends Regina Hamlett of Hamlett Lavender Farm and Dea and Chris Schell. They hope to make it a destination for people who love fresh produce, farm-raised meats and poultry, flowers and local artisans. They're also planning homesteading talks and special events.

Brighton Farmers and Artisans Market

This market in downtown Brighton has farmers, growers, flower vendors, scrubs and trees, baked goods, and handmade wares. It also features food trucks and live music.

Howell's Sunday Farmers Market

This market brings together farmers, growers, flowers and plants, homemade goods and crafts.

Green Oak Township Farmers Market

New market manager Sarah Lester is resurrecting the market after it went on hiatus. Lester, who owns Kingdom Soapery, said the market will host farmers and growers, poultry and meat, artisans and craftspeople — in addition to food trucks and special activities, including live music, demonstrations and workshops.
