Lift Mechanic Checks Out Ontario's 8-Pack Chairlift
Ontario's 8-Pack Chairlift, located at Mount Saint Louis Moonstone in Southern Ontario, recently replaced the older 6-seater chair, the Adventure Express.
The YouTube channel Patrick's Motors explored the experience of riding the 8-Pack with a video detailing different aspects of the new lift.
Mount St. Louis Moonstone is known for investing in high quality chairlifts even though the resort is a little more than 550 vertical feet.
Doppelmayr, the chairlift's manufacturer, issued a press release earlier this year stating that the Adventure 8 "ranks among the most technologically advanced ropeways."
The 8-Pack lift features a unique L-shaped Doppelmayr D-Line terminal with 90 degree loading and a massive 4,250 passenger per hour capacity. It takes skiers from the Moonstone base lodge to the Moonstone summit.
The lift also features a direct drive, loading conveyor and heated seats. 6 seats versus 8 seats may not seem like a major difference, but heated seats make a world of difference on colder days at the resort.
During this video, the heated seats may not have been necessary, as Patrick reported that the skiing was springlike and slushy as opposed to bitterly cold.
The channel also commented on how smooth the lift ride was.
Ian Greenwood clarified in an earlier POWDER article that Mount St. Louis Moonstone isn't the only ski resort in Canada set to receive an eight-pack chairlift, even though Doppelmayr did write in its press release that Mount St. Louis Moonstone's Adventure 8 is "Canada's 1st high-speed 8-pack chairlift."
Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia, also had an eight-seater replacement on the way this winter in the form of the updated Fitzsimmons Express.
For now, though, Canadian skiers are celebrating the 8-pack chair at Mount St. Louis Moonstone.
