The new Decora Edge™ line of wiring devices from Leviton offers consumers a faster, easier and safer way to install electrical devices for the home. Compared with traditional electrical outlets and switches, Decora Edge has simplified and revolutionized installation by enabling users to securely connect electrical wires into a termination port. With the simple closing of a lever, you can terminate the secure connection with complete confidence.

“Decora Edge represents the latest Leviton innovation that will be a game-changer for DIYers and electrical pros,” said Bill Randall, director of residential product management, Leviton. “We have simplified switch and outlet installations for DIYers while also providing electricians a product that will save them significant installation time on the job site.”

Why is Decora Edge's termination so unique?

Not to be confused with Quickwire™ push-in (stab), brass screw terminal connections, or back-wire clamp terminations, Decora Edge's Spring Action Clamp terminal, consists of a manually operated integral lever that applies clamping pressure to a spring mechanism, without the use of terminal screws. The stripped end of an individual wire is inserted into the terminal, and secured with an audible "click."

Decora Edge Introduces a New, Easy-to-Install, Safer Design

Updating traditional light switches and wall outlets can be tricky, due to box complications, loose wires or too-short wires, grounding quirks, tools, and the expectation of having solid know-how as to how wire connectors work.

Decora Edge makes electrical projects easier for professionals and DIYers alike. Its new, easy-to-install and safer design makes installation faster:

  • Color-coded levers are easy to see in low-light areas and help prevent miswiring

  • The devices feature the ONLY screwless ground in the industry

  • Designed for use with both 14-gauge wire and 12-gauge wire (stranded and solid copper wire)

  • One standard strip gauge for all devices

  • No screws = no torque requirement concerns

  • Self-grounding (no grounding screw)

  • No exposed metal parts helps to prevent shorts/mishaps during hot testing; no electrical tape needed

  • Wire openings prevent wire insulation from being inserted into the terminals

  • Large strap for easier installation on drywall imperfections

  • Tongue and groove for easier alignments in multi-gang installations

  • Color-coded terminals facilitate faster training for new installers vs standard installation methods (plus, they enable a tight connection)

Decora Edge is Color-Coded For Simplicity

Changing the way the industry views traditional wiring devices, Decora Edge features a unique patent-pending color-coded lever termination. Use a wire stripper, then insert the stripped end of a wire into the device. A simple integral lever clamps the wire into place without the use of screws. This design has a snap feature with an audible “click,” so installers can be confident with every termination.

The Decora Edge line consists of a Single Pole Switch, a 3-Way Switch, and a 15-Amp Tamper-Resistant Duplex Outlet. The product’s innovative installation features include color-coded lever terminals—including the ground terminal—for faster, efficient wiring, a larger strap with a unique tongue and groove alignment for quicker trim-out on multi-gang installations, and no exposed metal parts for added safety. The product is the only residential device on the market with a quick termination ground wire and the strap is compatible with any sized wallplate.

Remember, electrical wiring can be complex and carries inherent risks. Electrical safety is paramount. Always turn off the power at the breaker on the electrical panel before starting any work, and double-check it before touching wires. While DIY can be rewarding, prioritize safety and know your limits. When in doubt, call a professional to ensure a safe and efficient job.
