Party Makeup Inspired By Jewelry
During party season, when you might be going with more bold jewelry, let your accessories inspire your palette. It is a take on makeup that works, especially if you wear neutral clothes, like gray, black, and navy. Try it for your next night out. Here’s how:
Green jewelry: For a good look to pair with green, try smudgy black liner, serious lashes, soft blush, and rosy lips. If you are going for a bombshell look, try red lips — think Elizabeth Taylor.
Red jewelry: I love red jewelry paired with red lips. If you aren’t a red lipstick person, go with a softer, and more wearable cherry lip stain. Choose blush in ruby-rose tones. Keep eyes simple, with clean, thin, dark brown or charcoal liner and mascara, or just mascara with a clean eye.
Pearls, opals, or white jewelry: Pearls are classic, so your makeup should be, too. For eyes, pink or champagne shimmer shadow paired with black liner and mascara and a strong, defined eyebrow always looks beautiful. Nude or pinky brown lips keeps the look clean and crisp.
Black jewelry: There’s something about black jewelry that adds a downtown edge, so your makeup should too. Take Debbie Harry as your inspiration here. Go with black or soft gray eye shadow with black liner, barely-there blush and coral or nude lips.
Blue jewelry: Don’t try to match blue jewelry with blue makeup. Instead, go for soft plums or lilac shadows on eyes and black mascara. Pair it with a strong lip.
Yellow jewelry: Yellow stones and beads have a retro feel, so have fun with strong makeup here. I love yellow with false eyelashes and a bright pink lip.
Diamonds and rhinestones: The ultimate neutral — you really can do anything when it comes to makeup, but I like to pair a nude face with clear studs.
Silver: This metal really calls for color when it comes to makeup. Play with deep green, ivy shadows or sapphire liner for a striking combination.
Gold: If you have darker skin, pair gold jewelry with warm, bronzy tones. If you have lighter skin, try orange, coral, and peach tones on eyes, lips, and nails.
