Lao Ocean set to permanently close in Gulf Breeze by month's end

Lao Ocean, a Gulf Breeze favorite restaurant for Asian cuisine at 368 Gulf Breeze Parkway, is closing its doors on May 31.

The restaurant shared the announcement on its Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon.

“Dear valued customers, Lao Ocean will soon be permanently closing its doors. Our last day of business will be May 31. We thank you for your years of support!”

Lao Ocean was known for a wide variety of signature dishes, small plates and specialty sushi rolls. The restaurant was deemed Asian fusion due to its ties to multiple cultures, including Thai, Laos, Japanese and Vietnamese.

Among the most popular dishes are the fresh poke bowls, Mee Ka Tee (coconut curry rice noodle soup,) red curry and seaweed salad.

They were also a favorite for hand-rolled sushi, like the signature Breeze Roll, made with Kani Kama (krab stick,) krab salad, spicy krab, cream cheese and avocado deep-fried with eel sauce and spicy mayo on top.

Over 100 customers took to social media to share their sadness, deeming it as a favorite local spot.

Lao Ocean is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. More real-time updates and information can be found on the Lao Ocean Facebook page.
