Kern seniors to receive free groceries at CAPK’s ‘Wendy Wayne Day of Service’ April 13

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Community Action Partnership of Kern is set to host the “Wendy Wayne Day of Service” on Saturday, April 13 to address the needs of food-insecure seniors in Kern County.

Volunteers from the Community Action Partnership of Kern, CSUB, and the community will fill boxes with food for seniors in Kern. Some of the items seniors can expect include cereal, juice and canned goods.

According to organizers, the name of the event keeps the memory of Wendy Wayne alive. Wayne was a CSUB alumna and a dedicated volunteer in Bakersfield. Organizers said, the event highlights the spirit of service and compassion that Wendy Wayne embodied.

The event is happening from 8 to 11 a.m. at CAPK Food Bank located at 807 Feliz Drive in Bakersfield.
