It’s over for Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett. The embattled couple is splitting after nearly a decade together. The former Girls Next Door star confirmed that the two were going their separate ways in an emotional post on Instagram on Friday.

According to court documents obtained by E! News, Wilkinson officially filed for a divorce —citing irreconcilable differences — Friday afternoon. The news, however, shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has been following her on social media. On Monday, she hinted that something was coming.

She also shared an emotional video on her Instagram Story: “10 years. I did everything I could,” she said to the camera, crying. “It wasn’t good enough. I will always love him. My heart will always remain open for him. I believed in forever, I really did. Guess it’s just not meant to be. I’m so scared, but I have to get strong for my kids. I will. Thank you to all my friends and family for supporting me at the moment. Every little ounce of love helps. Thank you. I never thought I’d see the day, really.” Wilkinson first acknowledged their marital problems in February in a lengthy post that has since been deleted.

Both stars have been spotted around Los Angeles recently without their wedding rings.

“They’ve been having a really tough time, especially over the last three to six months,” a source close to the Kendra on Top star tells People. “She’s always been someone who wanted to be fully committed, married forever, and was definitely an ‘I’ll never get a divorce’ kind of girl, but she really lost trust in her marriage, and she’s realized there’s no turning back.”

The Girls Next Door alum, 32, and former NFL player, 35, began dating in 2008 and wed the following summer. In 2014, they were rocked by infidelity rumors after Baskett allegedly cheated on Wilkinson — who was eight months’ pregnant at the time — with a transgender model. According to Entertainment Tonight, that’s something the couple couldn’t move past.

“Kendra and Hank went to therapy after Hank’s [alleged cheating] scandal to try and work on their marriage, but in the end, his scandal always hung over them like a cloud,” a source said. “Hank has never quite recovered from losing his football career. He never really found himself after that.”

Wilkinson and Baskett are parents to two children: son Hank Baskett IV, 8, and daughter Alijah Mary Baskett, 3.
