I hate to be the bearer of bad news (bad being subjective here), but I have to tell you something, something you thought you might never hear again. But alas, we've come full circle, and capris have made their return in 2024.

Before you scream and shout and let it all out — here me out. Because I, an avid hater of capris, never thought I would say this either, but there’s something about the style in 2024 that’s so chic, even I’ve been convinced to add a pair to my closet. And I think by the end of this story, you will be, too.

I was initially inspired to try capris thanks to a recent photo of supermodel Kendall Jenner, who, sure, looks great in everything and can, thus, convince me to try almost anything. But it wasn’t the first time I was seeing capris, and it certainly won’t be the last, especially as we enter the warmer months. My Instagram feed has been flooded with ‘It’ girls wearing the calf-bearing styles, plus, they’ve appeared on the Tory Burch and Puppets & Puppets runways. All that to say — pedal pushers are, in fact, a sartorial statement that’s a force to be reckoned with. So, it’s time to try them out.

Jenner opted for a sportier version of the capris, recently wearing the popular Alosoft high-waist style in gray from celeb-favored Alo Yoga. They’re form-fitting! They’re comfy! They're reasonably priced (at least, for a celeb-worn brand)! Made from the brand’s super-soft performance fabric and going for $88 a pop, they’re available in three classic colors, a red, a gray, and a black, the latter being the most classic option that might remind of icon Audrey Hepburn.

Jenner paired hers with the brand’s matching sports bra, dressing up the look with black ballet flats, a shoe that’s been especially popular with the calf-bearing bottoms. Maybe it’s because of balletcore, or maybe it’s because the combo also oozes French-girl chicness, but whatever the reason, capris and flats are certain to be everywhere this season.

The nice thing about capris leggings like Jenner’s is they pull double-duty, as in you can wear them for yoga with sneakers and brunch dates with flats, but other brands like Vince, Tory Burch, and Chicos have dressier cotton styles that are more everyday-friendly.

Word of advice: With the cropped bottoms, it’s best to style them with a form-fitting top or something slightly cropped; too baggy up top messes up the proportions and can end up looking sloppy. But, most importantly, have fun wearing the bottoms and try to eliminate any passport traumas that might come from the style. They’re definitely a modern day, cool-girl essential, and they’re pretty darn practical and comfy for spring and summer.
