Amid the sea of lingerie-clad models at La Perla’s fall 2017 show, top model Kendall Jenner stood out in a see-through, elaborately detailed gown while debuting a fresh new haircut on the runway.
The 21-year-old, who starred in the label’s spring/summer 2017 campaign, apparently got the cut to kick off New York Fashion Week. “I had Jen Atkin cut it at a curve, so it’s a little bit longer in the front and super short in the back — I feel like a boy … and I love it,” she wrote on her app. “It’s Fashion Week, so why not try something new?”
Jenner’s celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin posted a clip on her Snapchat channel displaying the model reacting to her new look.
Although the change was subtle, it was enough for a paparazzi to mistake the model for her younger sister, Kylie Jenner.
“The day after I got the cut, I went to breakfast at Nate N’ Al,” Kendall wrote. “For once, I wasn’t being followed by the paparazzi but, of course, as I’m walking up to the restaurant a lone pap was just chilling at the meter and got me. On my way out he snapped some more pics and then said, ‘Thanks Kylie!’ I think the combination of my new super short hair and my outfit — leggings and a Champion sweater — caused the mix-up. So funny, though.”
Jenner posted a picture of the look that she closed the La Perla show with on her Instagram channel, which has already racked up over 1.5 million likes.
Another model who turned heads during the runway show was one of the original supermodels — Naomi Campbell — in an equally attention-grabbing look. The 46-year-old opened the show in a dark blue lace-embellished slip with a matching overcoat.
Like the celebrity-packed model roster, the crowd also featured a recognizable face. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow made her return to New York Fashion Week, sitting front row at the Italian brand’s presentation.
She wore a black-lace dress with a black overcoat and sheer tights to the event. She posted a photo from the show, captioning the image, “It’s #nyfashionweek (haven’t been in yeeears) and last night I went to #LaPerlaManor where apparently lots of gorgeous ladies live and walk around in beautiful ????.”
The luxury lingerie show brought some much needed heat to the snowy New York City.
