Kelly Slater, surfing’s greatest of all time, is going to be a dad…again.

At 52 years old, Slater and his longtime partner Kalani Miller recently announced the soon arrival of a child. They did so, as one does these days, via social media.

Then, after the news broke, a bit of silence.

Now, however, following his Round One heat at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, Slater spoke about the good news, revealing the sex of the incoming child, when he should be arriving, and the couple’s plans for the baby GOAT to enter the world.

“I’m super happy,” Slater said. “I’m gonna have my second child, Kalani’s first obviously. We’re having a little boy this summer, well, winter in Australia. I think we’re gonna have him in Hawaii. We’re really looking forward to it. We’ve been super excited.”

Like he mentioned, Slater already has a kid – a daughter, Taylor – from a previous partner. As for Kalani, who along with her sister runs a swimsuit company, this will be the couple’s first child together. And for Slater, his first boy.

Further talking about the announcement, and how Kalani and Kelly went about it, the 11x surfing world champion continued:

“It was fun to keep it a secret from everyone for a long time. We even kept it secret from family for months. Then, one by one we were telling friends, and kind of filming their reactions and stuff. It’s just been a fun time.”

What will this mean for Slater’s seemingly never-ending career and drive for surfing supremacy? One would imagine that he’d slow down a bit, hang the jersey up, and settle into domestic bliss.

But that’s the thing with Slater, in and out of the water – expect the unexpected.

Look out; baby GOAT incoming.
