Kelly Ripa Says She Talks About Retirement from 'Live' With 'Great Interest'

Kelly Ripa is talking about retiring from her iconic position hosting Live, but don't worry, she's not ready to give up her seat just yet.
Borrowing from social media influencer lingo, the actress and media personality "soft launched" the idea of walking away from ABC's long-running morning talk show while discussing her plans for the future.
In a new interview, Ripa revealed that she thinks about retirement with "great interest" but explained that now isn't the time as she's quite happy co-hosting the series alongside her husband, Mark Consuelos.
"I think the risk-averse quality I have is probably the reason I stayed with the same job for so long," she told wellness outlet The Purist in an interview published earlier this month. "Other offers come along, but I like to stick with what I know. I am very steadfast in everything I do, and so when you have me, you have me for life. Having said that, I don't intend to work at this job for the rest of my life. I do talk about retirement with great interest, but right now I'm very happy, especially working with Mark."
Before Consuelos had his spot at the desk, Ripa—who took over for Kathie Lee Gifford in 2001—shared the stage with Ryan Seacrest, Michael Strahan and the show's other original anchor, the late Regis Philbin.

During her 22 years on the network, she entertained more stars than we could count, scoring not only memorable interviews but a Daytime Emmy Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her efforts.
Prior to joining Live, the 52-year-old portrayed Hayley Vaughan in the hit ABC soap All My Children, which is where she reportedly first met her husband and the father of her three children: Michael, 26, Lola, 22, and Joaquin, 20. She went on to star in hit TV shows like Hope & Faith and in more recent years, has continued to explore her skills behind the scenes, producing a variety of TV programming including Generation Gap, Fire Island and Cheer, among others.
