KC Wheel to host ‘Waggin’ On the Wheel’ adoption event this weekend
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Wheel is partnering with Great Plains SPCA for the first ‘Waggin’ On the Wheel’ event where pet adoptions and rides on the ferris wheel alongside your four-legged friend will be open to everyone who joins in on the fun.
This event, hosted by the Great Plains SPCA shelter, will be all weekend long, and will give people the chance to support the organization’s cause while finding the newest member of their family.

Dog adoption events will be open from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in honor of National Rescue Dog Day (Monday, May 20), and both the KC Wheel and Great Plains SPCA hope to drive awareness and raise funds for animals who live in shelters.
The organizations are also hosting a ‘Waggin’ On the Wheel’ event on Monday from 4-10 p.m. where two dogs per human with an adult ticket can ride on the KC Wheel for free.
Guests who donate $10 or more while visiting Great Plains SPCA at the event will be given a free Digital Photo Package from the KC Wheel. As well as this, the wheel will be lit up bright orange to help spread awareness and support our favorite furry friends.
If you can’t go, you are in luck because you can still get involved by donating online at the Great Plains SPCA website.
This weekend’s festivities is due to the One Good Turn Deserves Another initiative by the KC Wheel. The park attraction has plans to partner with a number of local charities and nonprofit organizations to promote their causes, drive awareness, fund their efforts, educate guests and encourage people to serve their communities.
As for Great Plains SPCA, this organization provides lifesaving services for approximately 5,000 animals a year in the greater Kansas City metro. It also offers a lifelong, full-circle approach for pets and their owners by following three steps: prevention, adoption and retention.
