Kate Middleton Isn't Missing, She's Just WFH

It's no secret that Kate Middleton has been OOO ever since she underwent "planned abdominal surgery" in January. The royal's noticeable absence has led to internet conspiracy theories, global concern, and countless memes. But it turns out that while we've all been spinning our wheels with theories on Kate Middleton's whereabouts, the princess has already been getting back to work in the privacy of her own home.

Just like the many who purchased desks and monitors for their home office during the COVID pandemic, Middleton is reportedly working from home (well, palace). A Kensington Palace spokesperson told the Telegraph that a new project for the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood’s Shaping Us campaign is keeping Middleton busy.

“The princess has been kept updated throughout the process,” the palace said, per Page Six.

The initiative is centered on early childhood development, and earlier this year, the foundation and Middleton celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Shaping Us campaign, which the princess launched the program back in 2023. During last year's Shaping Us National Symposium, Middleton delivered a speech that highlighted her passion for early childhood development. "People often ask me why I focus my time on early childhood," she said to the crowd at the time. "Well, the answer is because I care deeply about making a positive difference in helping the most vulnerable and supporting those who are most in need."

She continued, "Because if we can create a society which sees the child in every adult and the adult within every child, we will finally start to change it for the better."

Middleton first founded the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood back in June 2021 to "drive awareness of and action on the extraordinary impact of the early years, in order to transform society for the future," according to the organization's website.

Although Middleton is well enough to get back to work, the royal is still laying low for the duration of her recovery. The palace's initial statement revealed that the princess would return sometime after the Easter holiday (which takes place on Mar. 31). However, a source told the Telegraph that Middleton could still decide to join the family on their annual walk to St. George’s Chapel on that Sunday. There is "no confirmation either way" if Middleton will make an appearance during the royal tradition.
