It seems Kaia Gerber and Ayo Edebiri really hit it off after filming 2023 comedy Bottoms. In fact, the two have gotten so close that Gerber revealed they recently got matching tattoos.

Gerber told E! News it happened after Edebiri’s first hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, in February. “I went to see [Ayo] on SNL and she did such a wonderful job,” the model said. “The next day, I thought she would just stay in bed and kind of relax after what I know is a very intense week, but she was like, ‘We’re getting tattoos.’ ”

That was apparently all Gerber needed to hear. “Whatever she says, I do,” the Omega ambassador joked.

Despite describing the new ink as “pretty fresh,” Gerber wasn’t ready to show it off when she walked the red carpet at the premiere of her new Apple TV+ series, Palm Royale. Apparently, the model told E! she wants to keep the design “hidden” for the time being.

Whatever the art may be, it seems members of the Bottoms cast have remained close since the release of the movie. Gerber will reunite with another of her former costars, Edebiri’s comedy partner Rachel Sennott, for the upcoming dramedy SNL 1975.

The movie charts the early days of the titular sketch-comedy series, and in it, Gerber will portray Jacqueline Carlin, an SNL actor who married founding cast member Chevy Chase, while Sennott will play Rosie Shuster, an actor and writer for SNL who was also married for almost a decade to show creator Lorne Michaels. Gerber noted that Edebiri is slightly jealous that the two are working on another project together without her. “[Ayo] is very upset,” the daughter of Cindy Crawford kidded. “I’m gonna have some reparations to do there.”

Despite her purported FOMO, Edebiri has been keeping quite busy herself. The third season of her Emmy-winning drama series The Bear will be released in June, as will new Pixar sequel Inside Out 2, in which she voices Envy. She is also starring with John Malkovich in upcoming A24-produced horror film Opus, and with Woody Harrelson and Jamie Lee Curtis in the political comedy Ella McCay. We’ll have to keep an eye out in these upcoming releases for Edebiri’s new tattoo.
