Josh Duhamel Shares His Son's Reaction to Becoming a Big Bro

Josh Duhamel is preparing to become a father for the second time at 50 years old,  and he couldn't be more thrilled. "I'm just beyond excited. I really am," the Transformers actor told Parade.

Duhamel married his wife, model and former pageant queen Audra Mari, 29, last year, and the pair announced their pregnancy earlier this month on Instagram. "Audra is going to be an incredible mother. She's made for this," he said. "It's really cute to watch, actually. See that little belly grow out."

The former soap-opera star shares a 10-year-old son, Axl, with his ex-wife, Fergie. Axl is excited, Duhamel says, but also has quite a few questions. "He's like, 'Wait, now, am I going to be—You're still going to love me, though, too, right?' I was like, 'Of course I'm going to still going to love you.' And he's like, 'I'm still going to be your firstborn son, though, right?' I'm like, 'Yeah, you're still the firstborn son!'

"He's a really sweet kid. And he loves babies!" Duhamel said. "I was the same way at his age. I just have always loved babies. There's something about them. And he's really good with younger kids. So I think he's going to be a great older brother."

Having a new baby isn't the only big update in the Shotgun Wedding star's life. He's also the host, creator and executive producer of a brand-new reality show on CBS called Buddy Games. The idea for the show came from the real-life 'buddy games' held between Duhamel and his childhood friends post-college. He and his pals would get together to compete in a series of ridiculous competitions.

"The fact that I'm sitting here talking to you about this dumb thing that my friends and I have done forever and turned it into a really cool TV show on CBS is like beyond a dream come true. It really is just like, what?" Duhamel said.

The Life as We Know It actor couldn't just sit on the sidelines and watch the competition unfold. What fun would that be? Instead, he decided to don a "test dummy" t-shirt and play guinea pig. "I wasn't going to be a part of it unless I could really, really be in it and be a part of it with them. I wasn't going to ask them to do anything I wouldn't do myself," Duhamel said.

Now, as Duhamel gears up for fatherhood round two, he's contemplating a future in which his own personal 'Buddy Games' will one day involve the next generation. "We've already talked about it with the guys, about doing like a father/son or father/son/daughter version of this where, you know, they get to come and compete against the old guard," he shared.

"A lot of these guys are sending their boys or girls off to college. Here I am having a new one. But yeah, it can be really fun. Even even if my son is much younger than some, they can all sort of team up against against us. I think it'd be really fun."

Buddy Games airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
