Johnson City hotels present donated food to Good Samaritan Ministries

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Seven Johnson City hotels presented a local charity with donated food items on Monday.

As part of the annual “Hotels with Heart” campaign, the hotels asked community members, hotel guests, and staff to donate non-perishable canned and dried food items for Good Samaritan Ministries’ Summer Food Box program.

The donated items were presented to Good Samaritan Ministries at the Courtyard by Marriot.

“We’ve been so grateful to have partnerships such as the local hotels of Johnson City with Visit Johnson City as well,” said Aaron Murphy, Good Samaritan Ministries CEO and executive director. “To be a part of these efforts in combating poverty and changing lives, food insecurity is a symptom of poverty, and we believe that no child should go hungry during the summer months. We feel called to ensuring that these families have enough meals while these kids are at home.”

Good Samaritan Ministries will continue to host food drives this summer that will benefit the more than 550 families it serves through the program.

The seven participating hotels were Hampton Inn Johnson City, Carnegie Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn Express, DoubleTree by Hilton, Home2 Suites, and Holiday Inn Johnson City.
