John Stamos is mourning the loss of his dear friend, musician and Beach Boys member Jeffrey Foskett.

Foskett, who spent decades in both Brian Wilson's solo band and Mike Love's Beach Boys, died on Monday, Dec. 11 after a battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer. He was 67.

Following news of his death, Stamos spoke out on Instagram, sharing some photos of his fondest memories with the late musician.

"Today, I lost more than a friend; I lose a part of my soul, my history," wrote Stamos, who was introduced to the band by Foskett in the 1983, leading the Full House star to a gig as a percussionist. "Jeffrey Foskett, my dearest friend, brother, and the brightest light in my life, has left this world."

Stamos, 60, went on to describe his reaction to first hearing the news, sharing that "uncontrollable tears streamed down my face, a physical manifestation of the heartache within."

The actor said he was comforted by his wife Caitlin McHugh and his 5-year-old son Billy, who embraced his dad before running off to retrieve "a small, tender offering—a drawing."

"His innocent hands sketched a picture of Jeff with hearts ascending to heaven, with me, waving goodbye. A stairway of hearts, and next to the top heart, he wrote God. A simple yet powerful symbol of love and loss that pierced through my grief," Stamos wrote.

His emotional post continued, "Jeff was more than just a friend; he was the one who brought the harmonies of The Beach Boys into my life, and with them, a spectrum of color and joy I never dreamed would be part of my life."

"He was a vibrant force, a radiant soul whose laughter and wisdom touched everyone he met," the Grandfathered alum added. "He was an older brother in spirit, guiding, lifting, and loving me, sometimes more than I thought I deserved."
