Jif Is Releasing a New Flavor for the First Time in Nearly 10 Years

It's the brand's most iconic flavor combo yet.

I’ll be honest, there are a few products I can get pretty snobby about. Ketchup, jarred marinara sauce, and peanut butter are the ones that easily come to mind. Everyone has their go-to brands for each, and as brand loyalists, most of us won’t stray. For me, that means it’s Jif peanut butter until the end of time.

You’ll always find a jar of Jif peanut butter in my pantry—in fact, there’s a good chance you’ll find a jar of peanut butter at my desk, too. Obviously, I’m a huge fan of peanut butter anything, so of course, I think a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich is delicious. But my favorite PB combo involves chocolate.

I'm talking Kiss cookies, Buckeyes, and, obviously, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups—there’s just nothing like the combination of chocolate and peanut butter. So, if you’re in the same chocolate-peanut butter boat, then boy do I have good news for you.

Jif Launches New Peanut Butter and Chocolate Spread

Jif just launched its largest flavor innovation in nearly a decade and my choco-PB lovers, you are going to be thrilled. New Jif Peanut Butter and Chocolate Flavored Spread is coming to shelves this month.

Jif’s newest spread combines its beloved creamy peanut butter with a chocolate-flavored spread (not to be confused with the competitor's hazelnut spread). In fact, Jif says its PB&C spread has 50% less sugar than that very competitor.

The Peanut Butter & Chocolate spread has the same Jif thickness, making it perfect to smear on toast, fruit, pancakes, desserts, or anything else you want to add a hint of sweetness to.

I Tried Jif's Peanut Butter and Chocolate Spread

I was among the first to try Jif’s new Peanut Butter and Chocolate Spread, and let's just say, I was in snack heaven. I opted to eat it with pretzels—but a spoon might have been a more suitable choice.

It tastes more like peanut butter with added chocolate flavor rather than a 50-50 mix of PB and chocolate. So, you get a lot of the savory, peanut flavor, followed by a punch of sweet chocolate, meaning it solves your sweet craving without tasting like you’re eating straight-up chocolate syrup.

It also has the same mouthfeel and texture as Jif’s traditional peanut butter, which I enjoyed. It meant I could dip the pretzels without them snapping in half, but also not risk dripping the dark brown spread on my lap.

I can confidently say that Jif’s Peanut Butter and Chocolate Spread will be joining my OG Jif jar in the pantry from now on—and maybe the one on my desk, too.

If you want to get your hands on the new product, you can start by checking Amazon. The spread will go on sale online on May 1, but will hit all retailers nationwide over the next few months. Once it’s in stores this summer, you’ll find both a 15-ounce jar and 1.1-ounce To-Go Cups on shelves.

Congratulations peanut butter-chocolate fans, today marks a big win for us.
