How Jeremy Renner Honored the One-Year Anniversary of His Terrifying Snow Plow Accident

Jeremy Renner marked the one-year anniversary of his harrowing snowplow accident by returning to the Nevada hospital where he was treated. On December 31, the Hawkeye star rolled up to Reno Renown Medical Center in a fire truck to pay respect to the first responders who helped him make such a miraculous recovery.

“Stopped by to see kids/superheroes, first responders, and doctors, nurses, and staff at Renown hospital,” Renner captioned the heartfelt tribute. “Paying my respects and celebrating love, life, and the blessings it brings to us all. Thank you and this community for keeping me here. I’m forever in your debt with gratitude.”

Renner dropped by the hospital in the late afternoon, where he took photos with fans and shook hands with the doctors and nurses who stood by his side throughout last year. It was an emotional day not just for Renner, but also for Renown’s staff, who were just as surprised by the actor’s swift recovery as his fans.

“Being able to see [Renner] walk back to the hospital to say ‘hi’ to the team that took care of him [is] a gratifying moment for us,” Jimmy Lao, Renown’s director of nursing, told Los Angeles’ News4. “It’s validation of the hard work the team puts in, and the efforts that the team has done.”

Lao reiterated that for months it was unclear if Renner would make a full recovery, or even walk again. His recovery is “closer to a miracle for us just because of the severity of his injury,” Lao admitted.

Renner broke more than 30 bones when his body became trapped under a Snowcat at his Truckee estate last January 1. He made a rapid recovery, sitting with Diane Sawyer for his first post-accident interview in March and walking the red carpet for his Disney+ show, Rennervations, in April.

His recovery tour isn’t over yet, though. The longtime musician announced during CNN’s New Year’s Eve telecast that he’s releasing an album of songs, Love and Titanium, inspired by his injury and recovery. On Monday, he released a video for the album’s first single, “Wait,” dedicated to his daughter Ava.

Love and Titanium drops on January 19. You can check out Renner’s music video for “Wait” below.
