Recreate her look from $22
Welcome to The Blueprint, where we highlight our favorite celebrity looks — and then pull pieces to help you get the look, too.
My friend once told me that my style reminded her of Jennifer Lawrence’s. And obviously, I was ridiculously flattered — her minimal style is the blueprint I’m always trying to copy.
One of her more recent outfits was a bit out of my neutral-focused comfort zone, but I guess that’s why I like it so much. The Hunger Games actress was spotted on the streets of New York City in a super cool black blazer paired with some sweeping black pants to match — two basics I own and wear often. And other stars seemingly do so, too, as Gwyneth Paltrow wore the classic outerwear piece to a Pre-Oscars dinner just last month, while breezy bottoms make a return among celebs every spring.
As for J.Law’s purse? No, her go-to banana bag was nowhere to be seen, but her hand-held pick was bright yellow and full of spring energy. I wasn’t expecting yellow from her, to be honest, but I can’t say I wasn’t expecting a color of some sort: Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, and Hilary Duff have all been adding prism-like purses to their looks.
With a basic outfit combo to rely on — i.e. a black blazer and black trousers — you have room to play around with fun accessories, without fear of the ’fit looking too gaudy or garish. Plus, when done in the right way, it’s still on-trend but can have your own personal stamp, too.

Old Navy Pixie Blazer
Blazers can be pretty pricey — I would know, I have way too many — but this one is under $50 right now. It has nice notches in the lapels similar to Lawrence’s, but it’s a bit slimmer and shorter, so it looks less heavy than hers. If you are taller though (me!), it comes in tall and petite sizes.
Treasure & Bond Pleated Wide-Leg Pants
If a pair of pants is flowy on the legs, but tight around the waist, it defeats the entire purpose for me: These ones from Treasure & Bond have a partially elastic waistband, so they still look nice but feel comfortable while sitting and eating. I think black trousers are always going to be money well spent, but the olive ones look like a breezier and nicer pair of cargo pants.
Pettata Top-Handle Bag Purse
Colorful clothing and accessories are honestly out of my wheelhouse. But this Amazon bag looks doable with its otherwise plain appearance. And the round shape reminds me of the Bottega Veneta Jodie Bags — but for only $22.
Jennifer Lawrence is my style muse, so naturally, I’m on my way to buy more blazers, pants, and bags. If she’s yours, too, keep scrolling to shop more pieces inspired by the star.
