If you have green eyes, chances are you’ve run into a few issues looking for makeup that enhances your coloring.

The rule of thumb is to wear a shadow color that is opposite your eye color: Blue-eyed people look stunning in gold tones, and brown-eyed people stand out in coppers, purples, and greens, but people with green eyes are told to wear pink and red to make their eyes pop. While we love a bold pink or red eye, the look isn’t for everybody.

Jenna Dewan Tatum has the best solution to the green-eye-makeup dilemma.

Makeup artist Patrick Ta used a bright red blush atop dewy, airbrushed La Mer foundation to make Dewan Tatum’s eyes pop. Ta draped a blush like Bobbi Brown Blush in Berry above her cheekbones and onto the brow bones for an effect that is subtle but makes the eyes more prominent.

The technique was popularized by iconic makeup artist Way Bandy and follows the natural bone structure of the face. Unlike contouring, which is used to resculpt the face, draping uses pops of color to enhance the shape.

Marc Jacobs brought the technique back to life with the release of his Air Blush products. The style extends onto the eyes for a lifting effect, which Ta used to enhance Tatum’s eye color. He completed the eye look with bold lashes.

Dewan Tatum matched her lip color to her cheeks and eyes, using Tom Ford matte lipstick in Flame, and even wore an all-red outfit.

If a hot-pink smoky eye isn’t your style, try draping.
