Jenna Bush Hager

Jenna Bush Hager tries to help her kids with their math homework, but according to her, the way the subject is taught has changed too much.

The Today With Hoda & Jenna co-host got honest about her struggles at home in a new clip from the NBC show, explaining how her attempts at helping daughter Mila with math often don't go so well.

"I hear her going, 'You don't get this? This is above your math level?' to me. And I'm like, 'Uh, no. I understand it.' She's like, 'So do this problem. Show me how you do this problem,'" Hager said, before adding that she either has to "sneak out or have [her husband] Henry do it" for her.

This led Hager on a tangent about how differently math is taught now compared to when she was in school, causing fellow host Hoda Kotb to laugh so hard she had to wipe away tears.

Hager declared, "They don't do it the way that we learned it! Remember when you carried the one and all that? They don't carry the ones...It ain't the same."

She then joked, "Somebody thought, 'Hey, let's mess with all the parents in the world and change the way we teach math.'"

Fellow parents agreed with Hager, who also shares daughter Poppy and son Hal with her husband.

"She’s ain’t lyin 😩😝," said one person, as another tried to explain how their child was taught to do math before saying, "It’s so weird. Almost backward."

"My kid draws boxes 😂😂 idk what’s going on’ this isn’t art class," joked a different parent.

Some others shared their appreciation for the change in how math is taught, with a teacher writing, "Trust the process," and a different fan saying, "It’s not the same, but it actually makes sense. I am learning better strategies from my 4th grader than I did when I was in school."

Kotb, who laughed at Hager's frustration, has two daughters named Haley and Hope, and they are just starting school.
