Ahead of Super Bowl 2019, when the New England Patriots took on the Los Angeles Rams, Leslie Bonci, a sports dietitian with the Kansas City Chiefs, offered CNN a bit of insight into what members of her team would consume in the hours before hitting the field.

According to Bonci, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a glass of milk was a team favorite at the time, with it serving as "a comfortable food" for "a lot of the guys." Others opted for smoothies, Greek yogurt, or veggie stir-fries.

Donna Kelce pointed out that some players also "tend to get ill" during the game if they eat in advance, though, as she tells Parade, sons Travis and Jason Kelce have "never had that problem."

The NFL stars' mother sat down with us earlier this week, and if you've ever been curious about what the brothers' preferred game day meals are, we got the lowdown while chatting with her about her new partnership with Ziploc, which aims to reduce food waste this Super Bowl Sunday.

The family doesn't seem to abide by superstitions, with neither player having a lucky pre-game meal or other go-to to fuel up, but the football mom confirmed they "eat as much as they can."

She continued, "They need to get all those carbs...so that they can sustain them throughout the game.”

And when the game has come and gone, no matter whether they've won or lost, "pizza is always a go-to." She also cited chicken wings as another favored option—"stuff that you can get fairly easily,” no matter whether they're celebrating a big win or comforting themselves after a loss.
