Travis Kelce

While Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's romance began because of Kelce's brave shoutout to the singer on his podcast, New Heights, Kelce recently admitted that he wasn't confident it would work.

During a press conference ahead of the big Super Bowl game, Kelce was asked about when he "shot his shot" for Swift on a July episode of the podcast, and if he "ever thought in a million years all this would come from it."

"I never thought it would have landed," he confessed. "I didn’t even think it would have landed [and] I would have got a response from her." As for how Kelce feels about the shoutout now, he simply said, "We’re here and we’re all happy, I know that," with a smile on his face.

Before the two even met, Kelce gave a unique callout to Swift after seeing her in concert. "I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," he told his older brother Jason during their podcast, before sharing, "So I was a little butthurt that I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Despite failing to connect with her during her performance, Swift heard about the New Heights mention, and soon after, they got together. The "Lavender Haze" singer even mentioned how Kelce "put [her] on blast" during her interview with TIME for her Person of the Year cover story, calling it "metal," before saying, "We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other."

Now, the couple is the talk of the town, and fans are hopeful Swift will be able to make it to the Super Bowl to support her beau.
