Italy Residents Terrified After Lion Escapes Circus and Strolls Around Town

Imagine you're looking out the window and seeing a lion walking down your street! Terrifying to say the least!

That's exactly what people in the seaside town of Ladispoli experienced when they looked out their windows, as the news channel Vice News reported on November 12. Let's take a look!

Apparently, the lion, named Kimba, escaped a nearby circus that was in town and decided to explore the city's surroundings.

He eventually got caught and sedated after roaming the streets for several hours.

And no, thankfully, no one was harmed!

However, people were terrified as they captured Kimba on camera and were told to stay indoors for more than five hours.

According to Rony Vassallo of Rony Roller Circus, the circus that Kimba escaped from, the eight-year-old lion posed a minimal threat to the people.

"He met with people in an environment he wasn't used to... and nothing happened, he didn't even for a second have the instinct to attack a person," Vassallo told AFP at the circus site.

While this might be true, Kimba is still a wild animal, and we never know when they may snap. Especially when feeling threatened or fearful.

Vassallo's fear was more about "that someone could harm the animal out of fear or excess enthusiasm".

Which thankfully didn't happen, as Italians are pretty relaxed and not quick to "jump the gun."

However, Vassallo assumed that someone must have sabotaged the cage and that an investigation was taking place, as he personally checked the cage prior, and "everything was in order".

Either way, we are happy neither Kimba nor any patrons were hurt by this little adventure.
