Italo Ferreira's First Surf Back from Season-Ending Knee Injury (Clip)

Italo Ferriera just joined the knee-brace club.

Following a season-ending injury at the Corona Open J-Bay, in which the Brazilian surfing World Champ airdropped via floater, resulting in a tweaked knee, Italo is back in the water – well, freshwater, at least – with some new bionic hardware on his body.

He just dropped his first clip back surfing, post injury, at the Boa Vista Village wavepool; watch below.

How’s that first Clay Marzo layback? That’s probably not recommended by his doc.

Noting that he's at “80%” after injury, Italo wrote: “Rusty after 8 weeks of no surf.”

The clip comes from Boa Vista Village, one of the newest and what many are calling, the best wavepool in the world today.

Boa Vista Village is located near São Paulo, Brazil. It's a hotel, property development, there's a golf course, etc. For the wavepool, they have PerfectSwell technology from American Wave Machines – the same tech seen at Waco Surf in Texas. The pool is six acres, which is twice the size as Waco. There’s a variety of different waves on the menu – one wave that offers not one, but two air sections, which is pretty much unheard of at other wavepools – and it can allegedly produce between 120-160 waves per hour.

It's also, supposedly, $100,000 a year to surf the thing…unless you’re Italo, of course.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Italo there, either – pre-injury.

Like this one where he surfs the wave like a videogame, or this one with a freakishly perfect tube. Yep, Italo’s got this place dialed. Not a bad place to recover.

Filipe had his moment this year on the CT; but look out 2024.
