Italo Ferreira went through some sh*t this summer. In August, he endured a season-ending injury at the Corona Open J-Bay that stopped him from surfing in the Shiseido Tahiti Pro.

Just six weeks later, he's made a strong comeback. Last week, Ferreira posted a clip of his first post-injury session surfing at Brazil's Boa Vista Village wave pool.

Now he's on the cover Sport Buzz magazine's latest issue, where he opens up talking about life, surfing, and pro surfers he looked up to when he was a grom.

Ferreira captioned the post above:

"Very happy to share with you that the people of @sportbuzzbr invited me to be the first cover of the digital magazine SportBuzz Brazil. It's always nice to tell a bit of my story and the sport that made me win the world and help my family, friends and now dozens of children with my social project. Hope you guys like it! thank you guys!"

The full article is here in full (and in Portuguese) on Sport Buzz's site. So, thanks to Google Translate we got the scoop.

In the article Ferreira says:

"When I got into the sport, there were some guys I looked up to. Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater... I watched a lot of surfing videos. Today it's there on YouTube, those edited videos (laughs), but in the past they were those videos lasting an hour and a half. As a child, I would watch all day and then go into the water to surf.

"In Brazil, there were some guys. Fábio Gouveia, who was from the Northeast, was already prominent as well. Adriano [de Souza] later on, when I started to enter the access championships and then the elite.

"And then Gabriel came along, who really started to win championships and people saw that it was possible to compete with the rest of the world.

"Today, we are a powerhouse and a victorious generation, we are breaking records, making history, and I am very grateful to be part of this."
