New iPhone Feature Will Help You Avoid Getting Lost in a Crowd

Apple finally unveiled its new iPhone 15 lineup during its big Wonderlust event on Tuesday, revealing many anticipated features such as USB-C charging, an advanced new 48 megapixel camera system, and a new grade 5 titanium design for the Pro models. But the new line also features massive performance upgrades, one of which will come in handy in crowded places.

The iPhone 15 models feature a second-generation, ultra-wideband new A17 Pro chip that offers better precision when sharing locations with other people. It can also connect to other devices from up to three times farther away, using the iCloud Find My app. This means that not only can iPhone users be able to locate friends in crowds, but the technology will even guide you right to them.

"When you're in a crowded place like a train station or a farmer's market, and your friends share their location, you will be guided right to them with clear directions and distance," said Deniz Teoman, Apple's vice president of hardware systems engineering, during the event. "It's built into 'Find My,' so it has all the same privacy protections that users have come to trust."

Another handy feature to help users stay connected is Roadside Assistance via Satellite, which is similar to the existing Emergency SOS that launched with the iPhone 14 last year. However, the app will be able to assist in non-emergency situations even in the event cellular connectivity isn't available. Users can simply text Roadside Assistance to receive help for issues such as flat tires, getting locked out of your vehicle, low fuel or charge, or in the event that your vehicle becomes stuck.

The Roadside Assistance service will be included complimentary for two years with all new iPhone 15 purchases, and is likewise available to existing AAA members for free.
