Google Mocks Apple's Upcoming iPhone 15 in New Pixel Ad

We're now a week out from the big Apple event in which the company is expected launch the new iPhone 15. Among the rumored features we'll see in the upcoming models—including live voicemailperformance upgrades, and new colors—is a new USB-C charging cable, which will finally replace the lightning port that has been used since the iPhone 5.

Despite the fact that the rest of the industry has already adopted USB-C charging, Apple is apparently only making the swap amid new regulations in Europe. So naturally, Google Pixel couldn't help but take the opportunity to poke fun at its competitor in a new 'Spa Day' ad.

In the ad, a Pixel and an iPhone kick back in what appears to be a sauna, surrounded by towels and candles with cucumber slices covering their rear cameras.

"Pixel, a spa day was the perfect idea, with all these big launch events coming up," the iPhone's Siri notes. "These launches keep getting harder."

After reminiscing about how its first launch 16 years ago got applause over the "sliding to unlock" feature, the iPhone continued to explain why it seems to be having a more difficult time winning over consumers with the mounting competition.

"Now it seems like every time I turn around, phones like you are doing stuff I can't, like unblurring old photos, answering unknown calls with AI, and live translating messages," the iPhone laments. "It's exhausting. But I've still got a few tricks up my sleeve."

When asked to elaborate, the iPhone teased that it was still under wraps. "But let's just say you'll be USB-C-ing soon!" it coyly adds.

"You're finally getting USB-C charging?" the Pixel responds, to the shock of the iPhone. "What?" the iPhone asks as the cucumber slice begins to slide down its camera lens. "How did you know?" "Lucky guess?" the Pixel quips, in return.

The ad certainly echoes a small but growing vocal number of Google Pixel enthusiasts who seem to love to remind Apple users of the brand's shortcomings. Yet, in 2022, iPhone remained supreme, cornering the market with eight out of the top 10 best selling smartphones in the U.S. Whether Apple can keep this momentum going remains to be seen, particularly with reported price hikes for the new iPhone 15 models.
