Like many others, I spent my twenties sleeping on cheap mattresses and $40 wire bed frames from Mattress Firm. It was not a luxurious experience, but I wasn’t really in the place to invest in furniture — I lived in New York with roommates and moved apartments frequently.

Now, I live on my own, and with a new sense of apartment-based independence comes a desire to fill my space with higher-quality furniture. Last year, I attained a great mattress from Casper and had absolutely nowhere to put it until Silk & Snow reached out and offered to send one of the brand’s upholstered bed frames.
“Why not?” I asked myself from the floor where I’d placed my nice new mattress. Then I ordered a standard upholstered bed frame in the “Cloud” colorway.
The components of the frame arrived in separate boxes, all of which were light enough to carry into my elevator — and into my apartment — with minimal effort. The frame came together shockingly easily and quickly: I simply lined up the separate pieces of the bed frame, as instructed, then hooked them into place and screwed them in. Even better, the wooden slats — which I rolled out onto the frame after I assembled it — arrived zipped into a pouch in the back of the headboard, meaning the bed will be incredibly easy to disassemble and move.
I’ve slept on my Silk & Snow bed frame for a few months now, and aside from being incredibly grateful I’m no longer on the floor, I have noticed that the screws are a little loose, especially near the footboard. I had to go back in and tighten them up, as the frame started to sag from the weight of the mattress (and a human person).
But overall, the frame is both solidly made and incredibly lightweight, making it easy to move around for decorating or cleaning. Also, because it’s upholstered, it’s easy to clean — I just vacuum it and spray it with some Febreze. It also has a great price point: enough to be an investment but not enough to break the bank.
I’m glad Silk & Snow has rescued me and my mattress from the floor, and I’m very glad to take it with me as a piece of investment furniture when I move out.
