Independence couple celebrates 60th anniversary in hospital with staff’s help

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thursday marked the 60th wedding anniversary for an Independence couple, and even though both of them are in the hospital, staff at Centerpoint Medical Center made sure they celebrated the milestone together.

Bob and Mary Brice are both at Centerpoint for different health conditions in different rooms. The hospital tells FOX4 that their case manager, nursing and nutrition teams recently became aware of their anniversary, and teamed up to do something special for them.

The case manager picked up a cake and a card for Bob to give Mary, and staff surprised them by setting up lunch in Mary’s room. The hospital chef prepared sirloin steak with oyster demi glace, potatoes au gratin, herb roasted green beans and bread pudding for dessert.

Family shared photos of the special occasion, and a video where Bob gave the secret to a perfect marriage: “Keep your mouth shut and do as you’re told!”
